Tigard CERTs Graduate Citizen Police Academy

cert2_90x70Congratulations to two of our Tigard CERT members, Commander Bruno Amicci and Randi Karl for recently graduating from Tigard's Citizens Police Adademy. The Tigard Police Department operates an eight week Citizen's Police Academy once a year. The academy is consists of a eight week course of training designed to create better understanding and communication between citizens and police through education.

The academy subject matter covers a wide range of law enforcement topics such as investigations, patrol, training, budget, community policing, gangs, narcotics and firearms. The classes are conducted by members of the Tigard Police Department. A graduation will conclude the academy on the ninth Wednesday during the series. To date, 325 community members have participated in this popular program since it began in 1995.

Academy graduates leave with increased knowledge and enthusiasm to share the newly learned knowledge with their family, friends and neighbors. Further, some Citizens Police Academy graduates pursue volunteer efforts that closely match their interests. Other graduates possibly expand on their interests in law enforcement or other elements of the community.

Here are some photos from the graduation ceremony for the progam:

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.

Get free downloads for Internet Explorer 7, including recommended updates as they become available. To download Internet Explorer 7 in the language of your choice, please visit the Internet Explorer 7 worldwide page.
